After working as an illustrator for Banana Republic in San Francisco, Linda Christy, artist/musician/writer, returned to her Oklahoma home and her kinship with red dirt and thunderstorms. Linda grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma, as a boomtown baby boomer. In 1980 Linda earned a BFA in painting/graphics/art history from the University of Oklahoma while doing art and music as a freelancer. She worked as an illustrator/designer; music producer; portrait artist; art educator; fashion designer; arts & music writer and critic; and as an arts liaison to the community through collaborative events and presentations. Linda Christy has exhibited artwork in galleries, arts festivals, businesses, and homes throughout Oklahoma and the United States for over 35 years. Her artwork is currently represented through EBSQart.com, an online art gallery. For over 12 years, Linda Christy served on the roster of the Oklahoma Arts Council as an artist-in-residence. As a teaching artist, she traveled across the state of Oklahoma presenting arts classes for all ages in all sorts of venues. In 2000, Linda’s band, Loose Shoes, was added to the touring roster of the Oklahoma Arts Council as performing artists. They perform in theaters, libraries, public schools, and more all across the State. Pootinella’s ARTworld is where Linda’s creative imagination continues to flourish while creating paintings, drawings, and music that are reflections of her soul and her heart. She revels in opposites/contrasts and spiritual transformation as ways of expressing Mother Nature’s more sublime patterns of design. GOOGLE POOTINELLA for a more in-depth foray into Linda Christy’s world of ART.

This is the famous Banana Republic Catalog #31, on which I had the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues at Banana Republic. It's one of the most unique and striking of all the catalogs produced by this well-known company. My drawings graced the pages of this catalog, along with others produced during that time; and my work was nationally published in newspapers and magazines across the country; including, but not limited to Glamour, Atlantic Monthly, and Smithsonian. I feel honored to have worked among some of the most talented and skilled artists, writers, and producers in the commercial art world.

Here is a T-shirt design that was drawn by one of my students, D.J. Randle. This was a project where a drawing would be picked by the board members of Oklahoma Blues Society to be produced on one of their T shirt runs. D.J.s design was the winner. I went to Spencer Elementary School and worked with a large number of students in the cafeteria---sketching, drawing, and designing artwork based on "the blues". What a marvelous experience, of which my favorite part was the breaking out of spontaneous gospel singing by a group of girls at the table! You may have seen someone wearing this shirt at a blues festival somewhere. It was done by a 5th grade student at Spencer Elementary School in Spencer, Oklahoma!
